I don’t know if it’ s a BJ45 or HJ45, but it’ s always fun to see these 40 series wagons. There is always something unique at this place.

Yeah, they are massive inside. Back in the 70's-80's these were popular world traveling vehicles for their space and reliability. Even if you weren’t packing em in, this was a 10 passenger vehicle, you could probably get 15 in there in a pinch

But now, we need more room for cupholders and chargeable vibrators.

High center of gravity, narrow track, 15 passengers: what could possibly go wrong?

Our university student car club used to have one BJ45. The seats were slightly different but it did have folding back seats but only seats for two at the front.

I think 14 people in was the record. This happened after a visit to a brewery. O nly two at the front as one guy had just earned a big pile of money after winning a challenge for   eating 1 kg bucket of ketchup. The other 12 passengers were afraid of a red colored flying vomit and the front seat was his.

Should be a HJ45...and I would not have that roof rack up there like that. The top sides  of these things are not very substantial and the fibreglass roof doesn't add a lot to the equation. They were notoriously flexible...so much so it was not uncommon back in the day to see a full external roll bar style cage anchored to the chassis being used to mount a roof rack.

I’ve heard the bodies are pretty wimpy. It would be an HJ in Australia and south africa, but they also had them in South America, so maybe  a bj

Granted. One of the fun things to do with these was remove the roof and sides and install a canvas bimini top over the cockpit. Almost made them quieter too as you were no longer stuck inside an empty tin can!
